The Buj’s Supremacy: Heavy is the head that wears the crown

On December 1st, the Buj rose from the dead to become Nigeria’s music king. As the year came to a close, the skies opened with a deluge of hip-hop, causing musical chaos on X. Artists like Odumodublvck, Tomi Obanure, Zilla Oaks, and Yorkk launched their tracks, introducing extraordinary talent to the scene with their releases: “Eziokwu Uncut,” “Revenge,” “Gun Down,” and “Yônkers!”

The music industry was shaken by the release of “Eziokwu Uncut,” the deluxe edition of Eziokwu. This expanded album featured seven additional tracks, housing a total of twenty-three artists and producers. Fans couldn’t pick a favorite among the tracks but voted highly for A1 Perico Feat. Mizzle & Nasty C, No Protocol feat. Teni & Masicka, Wotowoto seasoning feat. Black Sherif, and Abuja people feat. Deco Suave.

Apologies for any slander against Odumodublvck were posted on X, reaffirming his commitment to his fans. His deluxe edition of Eziokwu Uncut, delving into themes of self-discovery, is hailed as a classic that reshaped Nigerian hip-hop history.

Similar to John the Baptist preparing for the arrival of Christ, “Revenge” emerged, with tracks like Treacherous, Light Work, and Runner, featuring KVV, showcasing Tomi Obanure’s prowess. His singles, “Wouldn’t Be Here Without You” and “Not Surprised,” were love songs for villains and lovers, respectively. “Revenge” aims to offer redemption to the wronged and stands as a testament to achieving excellence as the ultimate form of retribution.

Yung Zilly defied expectations upon leaving Apex Village and released singles like “Fresh like Z” and “Bank Alert” from the double-pack release Z Pack. His triumphant single “Gun Down” solidified his creative dominance with lines demonstrating his prowess.

Yôrkk’s EP “Yônkers!” arrived, showcasing his evolving style and readiness for mainstream debut. The EP, featuring the track “On” with “Pharoah,” serves as an enticing precursor to his imminent mainstream entry.

The Nigerian music scene witnessed an array of groundbreaking releases this year, shaping the course of hip-hop history and showcasing the diverse talents of these remarkable artists.
