What’s in Store in Africa’s Top Denim Label
“Thirsty Laboratory” or “Wear Thirsty”, is a high-end streetwear brand in Lagos, known for its denim wear and cotton releases founded by Straffitti, a recording artist and designer. Their collections, labelled “experiments,” target young, vibrant individuals expressing themselves through fashion and art. We got the opportunity to visit the store this month at Lekki, Lagos.
The entrance of the store welcomes visitors with mannequins showcasing the newly released Thirsty tracksuit in red and black, featuring bold patterns that reflect the distinctive Thirsty aesthetic, coveted by everyone.
The store offers well-lit spaces with shelves and railings on one end, showcasing stitch and patchwork denim pants and jackets, alongside women’s wear including denim skirts, tops, and sports clothing like tracksuits and sweatpants with the bold Thirsty emblem.
On the other end of the store are neatly arranged compartments showcasing items such as masterpiece Thirsty graphic t-shirts and fitted hats adorned with bold embroidered logos, each priced at no less than $200 apiece, versatile for any gender.
Thirsty gained prominence by selling one-of-a-kind denim pieces to top celebrities across Nigeria around 2021-2022. This breakthrough not only established their presence in the market but also elevated them to become a renowned Nigerian denim brand.
Their global status is solidified through campaigns in cities like Milan, London, and Cape Town. Exclusive denim pieces with intricate stitch patterns and silhouettes are priced as high as $4,000.
Wear Thirsty welcomes shoppers and visitors from 11 am to 8 pm on weekdays and from 11 am to 9 pm on weekends, although hours may vary on certain days.
The store is located at Admiralty Mall Lekki, 1 Olawale Cole Onitiri Avenue, Lekki Phase I, Lagos
