Victony dazzles us with ‘Everything’

Victony, the outlaw king. It would be quite the achievement indeed to be within the Nation’s shores and yet be unfamiliar with the sensational artist’s name… his feats speak for themselves after all, with his distinct sound traversing the nation and bringing many musical enthusiasts pure joy.

Victony first stepped into the realm of music with rap freestyles… yes, Victony used to rap. I was as surprised as you when I found out.

In that time, he released a mixtape on SoundCloud which he named ‘The Outlaw King’, as well as several covers of various hit songs. His musical debut, ‘Ina The Benz’, as well as another electric rap track ‘Menace’, were released around this time, in 2018.

Gradually though, Victony transitioned into Afrobeats, solidifying this shift with his debut project, ‘SATURN’, released in 2020. Describing it in his own words, “the SATURN EP was an exploratory experiment,” yet the project garnered such success that it quickly announced the arrival of a maestro in the music industry. Featured on the EP and essential to it’s success, was the seasoned industry star, Falz.

2021 witnessed the release of the hit song ‘Pray’, part of a 2-track EP titled ‘Dark Times’. This track gained enormous traction and significantly expanded his fan base. However, it was the scintillating sensation ‘Holy Father’, featuring Mayorkun, that propelled his sound onto the global stage, effectively elevating him to stardom.

That same year, he unveiled his sophomore EP ‘Nataraja’, featuring the producer Rexxie, and in the following year 2022, he dropped a third EP, ‘Outlaw’. This project boasted a remarkable playlist of 7 songs and collaborations with artists Tempoe and Ktizo.

One of the songs, ‘Soweto’, became tremendously successful, soaring up various musical charts and becoming an internet sensation in several countries. The remixes which featured Rema and Don Tolliver, as well as Omahlay on a second version, made it even more of a success, with it attaining widespread acclaim in the United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, and Switzerland amongst other countries

2023 was a busy year for Victony, with him releasing different songs including; ‘My Darling+Angelus’, both released simultaneously, as well as ‘Jaga Jaga and ‘Ohema’.

What’s amazing is that every single one of these songs did tremendously well!

Most prominent of all these tracks was ‘Jaga Jaga’, a song that had the whole country in a chokehold, with so many people including a multitude of well-established artists, joining the trend to create covers for the song. In fact, it was as though a Jaga Jaga fever had spread across the whole country.

In another remarkable feat, the song ‘Ohema’, featured Crayon and Bella Shmurda, alongside guest vocals from Ayra Starr, Odumodublvck, Qing Madi, Rema, Lojay, YKB, Magixx, Bloody Civilian, Oxlade, and Blaqbonez, thus essentially showcasing a total of 13 artists on a single track. Truly unprecedented!

EVERYTHING

Never one to rest on his laurels, Victony structured another fine musical piece: ‘Everything’. The simplistic beat coupled with Victony’s unique and ear-tingling voice is everything you didn’t know you wanted.

As the icing on an already sumptuous cake, the song features a sample of American singer Swae Lee’s soulful verse on the 2018 song; ‘Sunflower’. It is a symphonious fusion and will certainly have you replaying the song just to have a taste of that ear candy again.

What could be better than a passion-filled and soothing love song in this month of love?
