TROMS UNVEILS MESMERIZING NEW SINGLE ‘STARLIGHT’
Written by Funsho Daniel
From the opening lines of Starlight, the latest release from 23-year-old Troms, it’s immediately clear that we’re in the presence of a nascent master —an artist capable of guiding us, both sonically and lyrically, from shadows into a realm of heightened senses and unfiltered emotion.
What emerges from Troms’ work is the voice of an artist deeply attuned to his own experiences. To him, music isn’t a distant idealization of beauty or love; it’s a raw, fragrant exploration of lived passion—of love as it’s felt, of lust as it unfolds.
Transformed by memory, regrets and above all, by his exquisite sensibility, Troms makes music from the nuanced point of his tongue and his fingertips.
In 2022, Troms made his official debut with the release of his debut EP Intention a 5 track body of work which marked his introduction to the music industry since then he has been on a hiatus until the release of his latest single “Starlight”.

Q: Collaboration has played a major role in Afrobeats’ global rise. Who are the artists—both within and outside the Afrobeats scene—that you would love to collaborate with, and why?
Troms: I’m a big fan of collaboration, I’d love to collaborate with these young stars out right now. I have a couple in mind, Joe boy, Rema, Alpha P, etc.
Q: Every artist has a turning point that solidifies their identity. What moment or experience in your journey made you realize you were on the right path, and how has that influenced your vision for the future?
Troms: I wanna believe my turning Point is yet to come, I’m still finding that ground.
Q: Lastyly, Starlight” has a distinct sound that feels both fresh and nostalgic. What inspired the sonic direction of this track, and how do you see it fitting into the evolving landscape of Afrobeats?
Troms: Starlight has a unique style that makes it stand out from the rest of the songs out now, my Melodies, the writing and vocals. Makes it exactly the breath of fresh air everyone has been yearning for.
