He could be regarded as just another hitmaker, but masterfully transcending that to stand as a sound architect reshaping the contours of Nigeria’s street music is what defines his oeuvre.

Taking the bold leap to exist at the edge of tradition and futurism requires someone who can push the envelope of sound.

“A controlled storm of emotions, chants, and layered sonics that feel both ancestral and new-age” is how I would describe my exact thoughts when I first heard my first song from him and his ear-shifter of a breakout track, “Chance (Na Ham),” which redefined how Fuji could sound in the modern age, folding street grit into celestial melodies and spiritual undertones.

Every track I could get onto that he released previously, including ones that perhaps didn’t get the recognition they deserved or simply never made it onto my radar, was revisited, and I was in awe, gradually growing in interest to see how such a local prodigy could transcend his roots and forge a global legend out of his sound.

Digital experimentation and sonic reimagining are limitless, and going from his first project NSNV to the now incoming FUJIMOTO, Seyi Vibez has shown just how that can be achieved, making a clear testament to the evolution of artistic expression. He has built a textured world filled with coded language, spiritual references, and Fuji cadences while still immersing us in a parallel Lagos of pain and prayer. That is where his power lies and the very foundation upon which his legend is being forged.

This even translates into his fashion, but let’s keep on the path of his sonic ascendancy. Leaning into risk in an industry that often rewards familiarity while staying connected to the trenches is revolutionary, and the brilliance is in how he channels that into constant reinvention, in many ways becoming the avant-garde of the new street movement.

From singles like C Major, Chance (Na Ham), Different Pattern, Karma, Doha, Mario Kart, and more recently released tracks like Pressure and How Are You off his incoming FUJIMOTO, to his many guest features throughout his career, it’s easy to recognize a man devoted to perfecting how much better music can sound. Even as he leans into more pop-inflected tones, he never strays from his roots, carrying with him the spirit of Afro-Adura, that blend of rhythm and reverence that grounds his sound in both prayer and persistence.

Four albums and four EPs into his career so far, Seyi Vibez has never been one to leave his fans wanting. His consistency keeps the excitement alive, each release a new glimpse into what he’s crafting next. The FUJIMOTO era arrives to add to his boundary-pushing list of projects that continue to reshape the soundscape of street pop music. With the official announcement of FUJIMOTO slated for 14 November 2025, Seyi Vibez puts his cards on the table again: 14 tracks, bold visuals, and a clear intention to transcend the street-pop soundscape.

Features include international names like: French Montana, NLE Choppa, and Trippie Redd, among others.

“Fujimoto” (藤本), which means “origin of the wisteria”, symbolically represents resilience and endurance, elegance and longevity, love, humility, and strength in Japanese culture. It is a fitting metaphor for his journey as a street-rooted artist who has evolved into something transcendent and enduring.

It’s the era of FUJIMOTO, and another ride to witness just how far Seyi Vibez can continue to push the boundaries of his sound.
