UK rapper, writer, and now actor Stormzy is adding another chapter to his already impressive legacy with the launch of Merky Films, a new production company that marks the latest chapter in Stormzy’s growing cultural empire, which began with the successful launch of Merky Books in 2018.

Merky Films is set to provide a platform for underrepresented voices, continuing Stormzy’s mission to create space for Black British talent to thrive. The company’s first project is already commanding attention — Big Man, a short film starring Stormzy in his first-ever lead acting role.

Directed by Oscar-winner Aneil Karia, and uniquely shot entirely on the iPhone 16 Pro. The film will premiere on YouTube on June 18, 2025, at 7 PM GMT.
