Sporting Lagos are heading back to the NPFL
A 1–0 win over Osun United was enough to secure a return to the top flight. Nothing flashy, a lot of drama, but in the end, a job that had to be done was done.
They started like a team that understood the stakes. In the 17th minute, Aliyu Baba whipped in a cross, and Alex Leme rose to meet it, guiding a header into the net. It was simple, direct, and ultimately enough.
But the game almost turned immediately. Osun United, fighting their own battle against relegation, were handed a penalty minutes later. For a moment, everything hung in the balance, then Hakeem Olalere struck the woodwork, and Sporting Lagos held on to their lead to secure victory.
Across 18 games, the numbers tell a clear story: 11 wins, three draws, four losses. Thirty one goals scored, fourteen conceded.

Sporting Lagos have always tried to be more than just a football club. Since their emergence, they’ve carried a different kind of identity, one tied as much to culture and community as results. Relegation could have disrupted that idea. Instead, it forced a reset.
Now they’re back. The next step is staying there.
