Antoine Semenyo has been named Premier League Player of the Month for February 2026, becoming the first Ghanaian to win the award in over a decade.
The Manchester City forward, who completed a £64 million move from Bournemouth in January, enjoyed an explosive first full month at the Etihad Stadium, scoring three goals and providing one assist in five league appearances. His contributions included crucial strikes against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, and Leeds United, helping City maintain their unbeaten run across seven consecutive Premier League matches.
Semenyo becomes only the third Ghanaian player ever to claim the prestigious individual honour. The first was Leeds United legend Tony Yeboah, who won it twice in 1995—in March and September—during a period remembered for some of the most spectacular goals in Premier League history. Andre Ayew was the second, earning the accolade in August 2015 after an impressive start to his Swansea City career following his free transfer from Marseille.
At 11 years, the gap between Ayew’s triumph and Semenyo’s represents the longest drought for Ghanaian players in the award’s history.
“This is a brilliant moment for me,” Semenyo said after receiving the award. “To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget. My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City achieve the best possible results.”

The 26-year-old beat a competitive shortlist that included Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres, Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko, Brentford’s Dango Ouattara, and City teammate Nico O’Reilly.
Semenyo’s February performances bring his Premier League tally for the season to 15 goals—10 for Bournemouth and five for City—placing him third in the scoring charts behind only Erling Haaland (22) and Brentford’s Igor Thiago (18).
He becomes the second City player to win the award this season, after Haaland claimed it in September, and only the second January signing in Premier League history to be named Player of the Month for the following February, joining Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, who achieved the feat in 2020.
