Nigeria’s Super Eagles edged past Jamaica 5–4 on penalties to win the 2025 Unity Cup at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, reclaiming the title they lifted 21 years ago.
After a thrilling 2–2 draw in regulation time, the match went to penalties, as Christantus Uche converted the decisive spot-kick to seal victory for Nigeria. The shootout had been flawless until Jamaica’s Dwayne Atkinson rattled his effort off the crossbar, allowing Uche to step up and seal the win for the Super Eagles.

Moses Simon opened the scoring early for Nigeria, but Jamaica responded almost instantly through Kaheim Dixon. Samuel Chukwueze restored the lead for the Super Eagles after the break, only for Jonathan Russell to level once more following an assist from Renaldo Cephas.

With tensions high and no winner after 90 minutes, the penalty shootout was set to decide the winner. Nigeria converted all five of their penalties, while Jamaica’s lone miss proved costly.
The win not only hands Nigeria its third Unity Cup title but also highlights the tournament’s successful return after a 21-year hiatus —a celebration of sports, culture, and diasporic pride.
