Her Story: NoteSphere Honors Women in Our Creative Community for International Women’s Day 2026

For International Women’s Day 2026, NoteSphere turns its focus toward the women shaping the culture around us. Through a special content series titled “Her Story,” we spotlight women within our creative community whose work continues to move music, fashion, art, and media forward.

Across different disciplines, we spotlight five women who stand out for their individuality and dedication to their work.

In music, Jamz represents the evolving voice of Afrobeats’ new generation. Her music carries the energy of contemporary African pop. Alongside her is Fimi, whose approach to rap positions her as part of a new wave of female voices redefining the genre.

Fashion is represented by Tolu Esan, founder of the brand Wande Esan. Through her label, Esan designs clothing for young, self-assured women who move with confidence and are in tune with today’s fashion culture.

In visual art and design, Freddie Jacob contributes a distinct digital perspective. Her work operates in the evolving space between graphic design and digital art.

Broadcast and culture commentary are represented by M.I.A, a radio broadcaster and hype woman whose voice has become familiar to listeners of Soundcity 98.5 FM Lagos, and whose high-energy presence is equally recognizable to festival-goers at events like Block Party, Femme Fest, and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Together, these women represent different corners of the same ecosystem—music, fashion, art, and media.

With “Her Story,” NoteSphere celebrates the women who continue to create, disrupt, and inspire within our community. Their stories remind us that culture moves forward only because individuals commit to their craft, even in the face of limitations.

And today, we honor them.
