It’s another week of the Game Changers of the Week series, spotlighting African players doing bits across Europe’s major leagues. From clutch assists to commanding defensive performances, we’ve got you covered on the continent’s finest.
Samuel Chukwueze (Nigeria) – Fulham
Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze came off the bench to deliver the match-winning assist as Fulham edged past high-flying Sunderland on Saturday.
Introduced in the 64th minute on the left wing, Chukwueze wasted no time getting into the game. In the 84th minute, he whipped in a delightful cross that only needed the right-footed touch of Raúl Jiménez to guide it beyond the goalkeeper and into the net.
It’s the second assist of the season for the Nigerian winger, currently on loan from AC Milan, and another reminder of the quality he brings when fully confident and sharp.
Yankuba Minteh (Gambia) – Brighton
Yankuba Minteh’s impressive run of form continued as he played a direct role in both goals during Brighton’s 2–1 comeback win over Brentford.
After the Seagulls went behind to an Igor Thiago penalty, Minteh responded brilliantly, delivering an inch-perfect cross that Danny Welbeck dispatched with a calm, clinical finish past Kelleher.
Thirteen minutes later, Minteh’s left-footed strike took a deflection and fell kindly to Hinshelwood, who connected on the half-volley to seal all three points for Brighton.
Another electric outing for the Gambian star.
Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria) – Brighton
Before collecting her CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award last week, Chiamaka Nnadozie was already doing what she does best, standing tall between the posts.
The Nigerian shot-stopper played a key role as Brighton beat Leicester City 4–1 in the Women’s Super League, making four saves and even creating one chance as she continues to settle into life in England.
Her latest CAF honour, her third consecutive Goalkeeper of the Year award, is nothing short of a testament to her dominance, consistency, and relentless hard work.
