It’s another week of the Game Changers of the Week series, spotlighting African players doing bits in Europe’s major leagues. From goals and game-winning assists to solid performances, we’ve got you covered on the continent’s finest.
Victor Boniface (Nigeria) – Werder Bremen

Victor Boniface came off the bench to great effect for Werder Bremen, providing the assist for Samuel Mbangula’s winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg. Introduced in the 68th minute, the Nigerian forward won all five of his duels and completed both of his dribbles in a strong, game-changing performance.
Idrissa Gueye (Senegal) – Everton

Idrissa Gueye scored his second goal of the season as Everton cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Fulham. The veteran midfielder reacted quickest after James Tarkowski’s header came off the crossbar and Tim Iroegbunam failed to convert the rebound. Gueye, now 36, has started all 11 games for Everton this season and continues to be a key presence in midfield.
Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon) – Manchester United

Bryan Mbeumo made it four goals in four games for Manchester United with a well-taken header in their 2-2 draw against Tottenham. Playing as the left-sided No.10 in Rúben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, Mbeumo was lively throughout, linking play, pressing hard, and putting in a solid defensive shift. He was perfectly placed to steer home an inch-perfect cross from Amad Diallo to give United the lead. After United went behind in the second half, he won the all-important corner that led to the equaliser.
Ibrahim Sangaré (Ivory Coast) – Nottingham Forest

Ibrahim Sangaré scored his first Premier League goal of the season as Nottingham Forest came from behind to beat Leeds United 3-1. The Ivorian midfielder was in the right place to calmly side-foot home after Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri parried the ball into his path.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon) – Marseille

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wrapped up the scoring for Marseille in their 3-1 win over Brest. After goals from Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood had set Marseille on their way, the Gabonese striker added a late strike in the 81st minute to seal a comfortable victory.
That’s it for this week’s Game Changers. See you next week.
