Filmmaking Workshop, ‘Shoot Edit Repeat’, Rounds Up a Successful 10th Edition

Shoot Edit Repeat (SER), wrapped up its milestone 10th edition, bolstering its role as a leading platform for practical filmmaking education in Nigeria. The five-day workshop, held from 27th to 31st January, brought together upcoming and mid-level filmmakers for an experiential learning experience led by some of the industry’s most respected professionals.

The workshop opened with the founder, Dada “Oluwadabest” Temitope, taking participants through the basics of cinematography, laying the foundation for what became an intense and highly rewarding week. Other facilitators, including Fedworks, Eddie, Ebuka, Damilola Onafuwa, Ibidunni, Jenrola, Adeola, Stedi Colour, Oye Joseph, and Anita Ashiru, shared their expertise across directing, storytelling, production design, and post-production.

The interactive discussions and real-time feedback ensured that students engaged intently with the sessions, taking away practical knowledge and new creative approaches. It was a well-rounded learning experience which many described as transformative, highlighting how the facilitators’ insights helped refine their skills and expand their perspectives.

To sum up the essence of the workshop, documentary photographer and filmmaker Damilola Onafuwa said, “Tell the stories that matter to you, whether there is an audience or not. It builds confidence and self-knowledge.” His words echoed throughout the programme, reinforcing SER’s mission to help filmmakers find their voice and hone their craft.

Along with media partnerships from Spare KeysNotesphere, and Unruly, SER 10.0 was formally partnered with Leadway. The workshop’s influence on the Nigerian film industry is evident as it expands, giving the upcoming generation of storytellers the invaluable resources they need to succeed.
