Released in collaboration with Afropolitan, Aunty’s is a limited sculpture collection collected strictly through an application-based system, where every potential collector is expected to demonstrate intent and alignment with the work, ensuring that each piece ends up with intentional collectors rather than casual buyers.
The collection, which reflects Anthony Azekwoh’s ongoing exploration of African memory, identity, and storytelling, consists of up to 200 sculptures. Drawing inspiration from the cultural role of “aunties” as custodians of tradition and oral history, the works position domestic figures as central to the preservation of heritage.
Early placements have reportedly gone to a network of high-level industry personnel—collectors, creatives, and cultural operators, including executives from Paystack, LVRN, and BetKing.
The sculptures are produced locally in Nigeria using materials such as bronze, marble dust, and fiberglass. Already one of the most visible digital artists from Africa, Azekwoh’s transition into sculptural work marks an interesting expansion into physical, collectible forms and long-term cultural preservation.
