NTS: Interesting. You said you’ve always been doing music? How did you start?

LuckyDchampion: I started way back and I’ve always been singing along with other top artists’ current music and people really loved to hear me sing along with different songs because they loved my voice. I actually decided to start rapping but when I get too emotional I sing. I never stop and then I realize it was part of my life.

NTS: …about you being an entrepreneur, What business are you into?

LuckyDchampion: I own LuckyBoyzStudios and it’s more about equipment rentals, sales, and marketing of the products.

NTS: If you were to describe your music to a deaf person, how would you go about it?

LuckyDchampion: Well, a deaf person can’t hear any of my descriptions, but if they can see, they will understand my music is spiritual and emotional from my actions and expressions. They will know that I have endured struggles.

NTS: Fair enough. “Suffer/struggle” is a prevalent subject in quite a number of your songs. Is this something you plan on holding onto or will you switch up at some point?

LuckyDchampion: I don’t have plans of switching, I only flow with how the condition looks. Change is constant.

NTS: Who are the top five artists on your playlist right now?

LuckyDchampion: Young John, Wizkid, Asake, Moonlight Africa, Qing Madi.

NTS: If you were to plug someone to your music, which of your songs would you recommend? And why?

LuckyDchampion: “Melody” by LuckyDchampion. My music explains everything I’m doing, and it has always been my own inspiration when I feel down. I believe everyone can connect with my song. We all face challenges, and sometimes we feel happiness, so I can tell you that my song is a perfect example of good music for the soul in any situation.

NTS: Interesting. Also, which musician(s) has/have influenced your sound and style the most?

LuckyDchampion: None.

NTS: Woah! How do you balance the need for artistic freedom with the pressures of commercial success and public expectations?

LuckyDchampion: I do things calculated and planned, with prayers and hard work, so there’s no pressure.

NTS: Do you have any upcoming collabs/projects we should look forward to?

LuckyDchampion: Yes, I have some collabs, some are yet to be released, and then I have one out on all platforms titled “Jogodo” with Hasin, he’s a producer from Australia. Regarding projects… A lot, Opor.

NTS: Lastly, what advice would you give your younger self?

LuckyDchampion: Okay, my advice to my younger self is; keep learning, keep praying, and keep believing. And always remember that we are all human so nothing will last forever except the good memories you create by living your dream and helping others.
