Fireboy releases sizzling 2-track pack

You’ve heard this artist before and so you know it’s no lie when I say he is one of a kind. Mellifluous, heart-rending voice, fiery passion for music, and the ability to express emotions in the purest form through artfully structured lyrics. He is the self-christened King of Afro-life…THE Fireboy DML.

Although Fireboy has graced the music scene for over a decade, his true breakthrough came in 2018 when he joined the YBNL family, and now, five years later, it is clear that he truly is one of the best we have ever seen, and there is an abundance of evidence for all to see.

His debut song, “Jealous,” released in 2018, was an immediate hit that captivated Nigeria, signaling the presence of a musical gem. Subsequent tracks like “What If I Say” and “King” pushed him further into the limelight, and by the next year, 2019, he released his debut project, “Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps,” and by jove, it was a most stupendous project, featuring hits like “Vibration” and “Scatter.” With this, Fireboy solidified his status as a maestro, a musical star in his own right. Certainly, there must have been very few musical devices in the country that didn’t play songs off the project at least once.

Two albums later, “Apollo” in 2020 and “Playboy” in 2022, Fireboy continues to impress. Chart-toppers like “Champion,” “New York City Girl,” “Bandana” featuring Asake, and “Peru” featuring Ed Sheeran are glaring testaments to his versatility and artistic brilliance.

This year, 2023, Fireboy has released beautiful music that explores a variety of sounds. He started the year with the track; “Someone,” a beautiful Dancehall-inspired track, followed it with “Yawa,” an Afrobeat song with a touch of amapiano log drums, and then “Oh My,” a melodic Afro R&B track.

With the year coming to a close, Fireboy has clearly decided to end it with a bang, which is definitely why he released the enthralling mini-project consisting of 2 songs; “Outside” featuring Blaqbonez and “Obaa Sima.” You know how you listen to some songs and like them immediately… I mean without having to listen 3 or 4 more times to decide if it passes the vibe check? Yeahhh, that’s definitely what we’re dealing with here. Damola was not playing when he recorded these tracks, and he has orchestrated the perfect musical send-off for 2023.
