Arthur Okonkwo Cleared to Represent Nigeria After FIFA Switch Approval

Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has officially been cleared to represent Nigeria at senior international level after FIFA approved his request to switch national allegiance from England.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper, born in London to Nigerian parents, previously featured for England at youth level but never made a senior appearance. His application to change international eligibility has now been granted, making him available for selection by the Super Eagles.

Okonkwo developed through Arsenal’s academy system before gaining senior experience across several loan spells, eventually joining Wrexham, where he has grown into a key figure between the posts. His performances in England have earned him recognition for his reflexes, command of the box, and consistency.

With FIFA’s approval now complete, the goalkeeper becomes another diaspora option for Nigeria as the national team continues to expand its pool of talent ahead of upcoming international fixtures and tournaments. His availability adds an option to a position that has always been a worry for the Super Eagles.

While a debut has not yet been confirmed, Okonkwo is now eligible for immediate selection and could be considered for upcoming Super Eagles squads depending on coaching decisions.
