Tyla wins her second Grammy Award with “Push 2 Start”

South African singer Tyla has clinched her second Grammy Award, winning Best African Music Performance at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards for her hit song “Push 2 Start.”

With the win, Tyla becomes a two-time Grammy winner in the category and the youngest African artist to achieve the feat. “Push 2 Start” edged out strong competition from Burna Boy (“Love”), Davido and Omah Lay (“With You”), and Ayra Starr and Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”), among others. The category celebrates excellence in African music performances and continues to spotlight the continent’s growing global influence.

Tyla first took home the Best African Music Performance Grammy in 2024 for her breakout international smash “Water,” a record that helped cement her status as one of Africa’s most influential contemporary music exports.

Notably, Tyla’s second win comes from just her second nomination in the category — a strike rate that underscores the level she is currently operating at, not just as an African star, but as a global music force.
