Favour Ofili Reportedly Switches Allegiance to Turkey After Frustrations with AFN

Nigerian sprint star, Favour Ofili, has reportedly completed the process to switch her international allegiance from Nigeria to Turkey. According to emerging reports, the athlete filed her request with the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on May 31, following years of reported dissatisfaction with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

Ofili, one of Nigeria’s brightest track prospects in recent years, has faced several challenges under the AFN, ranging from administrative bottlenecks to inadequate support. These frustrations are believed to have contributed to her decision to represent Turkey on the international stage.

While the official confirmation is still pending from the World Athletics body, the move, if finalized, would be a major loss for Nigeria, which has recently seen a string of top athletes switch nationalities in search of better support and career growth.

Favour Ofili, known for her impressive performances in the 200m and 400m events, has consistently proven her potential on the global stage, making her switch a significant gain for Turkey’s athletics team.

Further updates are expected as the Athletics Integrity Unit processes her request.
