The Future Is African: VVS Lagos Launches a Global Statement in Style and Impact

Lagos, Nigeria – April 16, 2025 – The countdown has officially begun for VVS Lagos 2025, the fourth edition of Africa’s leading creative convention.

With this year’s bold theme, “Este Fuego: The Journey of the Descendants,” VVS continues its mission to amplify the continent’s excellence across fashion, music, art, film, and innovation—cementing Lagos as a global cultural capital and creative force.

To set the tone for what promises to be its most dynamic edition yet, VVS Lagos hosted an exclusive Stakeholders’ Meeting and Press Briefing on Tuesday, April 15th, at Silencio by Sujimoto in Ikoyi.

The event was moderated by award-winning journalist and Arise TV host, Seyitan Atigarin, and brought together an inspiring cross-section of media leaders, government officials, industry stakeholders, and creatives to preview the 2025 programming and share the vision behind this year’s cultural movement.

Notable attendees included Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture; Carlos Rojas-Arbulu, Deputy High Commissioner for Canada in Lagos; Yomi Adedeji, CEO of Softcom and The Good Thing Company; Olu Oyinsan, Managing Partner at Oui Capital; Florentyna Agu, CEO of Hertunba Fashion House; Sosa Omorogbe, Art Curator; Seyi UAX, Film and Visual Director; travel content creator Kim Oprah; and fashion influencers Nonye Udeogu and Akin Faminu.

At the heart of the discussion was a collective commitment to telling better African stories, fostering cross-industry collaboration, and building long-term economic value for creative communities. I.N Official, the fashion powerhouse behind VVS Lagos, played a central role in shaping the aesthetic and cultural narrative of VVS 2025. Alongside VVS Lagos Creative Director Ifeanyi Nwune, the brand led the announcement of the official calendar—a visionary lineup of events that spans music, fashion, art, film, and thought leadership.

One of the most exciting new initiatives unveiled is the VVS Future Lab, a creative incubator launched in partnership with The Good Co. This platform will provide mentorship opportunities and grant funding for young, aspiring creatives—fueling the next generation of African innovators across disciplines.

The VVS Lagos 2025 experience begins with the VVS Music Camp in May, hosted at Gbedu Labs in Lekki. This genre-bending residency will bring together emerging and established artists to collaborate on an album titled“The Descendants,” exploring the future of African sound.

The convention officially opens on Monday, July 7th with VVS Conversations at Alliance Française, Ikoyi—an ideas forum featuring industry leaders, creatives, and thinkers examining the nuances of identity, innovation, and global influence.

From Tuesday, July 8th to Friday, July 11th, BAHOUS at Federal Palace Hotel will transform into a curated cultural marketplace, with a four-day trunk show featuring Lagos’ leading fashion brands alongside a visual art exhibition spotlighting 10 top Nigerian artists.

That same week, I.N Official will host a private dinner at the British Council Residence on Wednesday, July 11th, celebrating craftsmanship, design integrity, and the spirit of modern African luxury.

On Saturday, July 12th, VVS Film Day, presented in partnership with AFRIFF, will highlight bold African storytelling and cinematic innovation through screenings and in-depth conversations with filmmakers.

Meanwhile, the team unveiled plans to build the VVS Gallery – the “museum of the future” which will serve as a permanent space and a home for African creativity, cultural archives, and experiential innovation.

The grand finale takes place on Sunday, July 13th with the iconic VVS Main Event—a groundbreaking runway show, honorary awards ceremony, live music performances, and an official afterparty hosted at one of Lagos’ most architecturally iconic venues.

Throughout the week, VVS Lagos will champion creativity not only as a cultural asset but also as a catalyst for economic empowerment and global relevance. With support from leading partners including Glenfiddich, Nigerian Breweries, and the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, the 2025 edition is set to redefine how the world sees—and experiences—African creativity.

Importantly, the full experience is being produced and executed by Imagination Agency, known for their ability to translate bold ideas into immersive, world-class experiences.

“We’re not just building shows—we’re building legacy,” said Ifeanyi Nwune. “VVS Lagos is a declaration that Africa is not next—we are now.”
