The Met Gala Costume Institute Benefit Host Committee is a group of influential individuals—typically celebrities, designers, philanthropists, and industry leaders—who support and promote the annual Met Gala. This prestigious event is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Each year, the committee features A-list figures from fashion, film, music, and business, reinforcing the gala’s status as one of the most exclusive events in the world.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced that Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie will be part of the host committee for the 2025 Met Gala, scheduled for May 5, 2025. This year’s event centers on the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrating Black dandyism and its influence on fashion and identity.
The accompanying exhibition, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, will feature garments, photographs, art, and historical artifacts that highlight the significance of the Black dandy. Curated by Andrew Bolton and Monica L. Miller, the exhibition aims to challenge social and cultural hierarchies through dandyism.
The dress code for the gala, “Tailored for You,” encourages guests to creatively express their personal style through the exhibiton’s focus on suiting and menswear. The event will be co-chaired by notable figures such as Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams, alongside Anna Wintour. The host committee includes personalities like André 3000, Simone Biles, and Tyla.
